The Bozeman Ice Festival

Bozeman Ice Festival

Bozeman Ice Fest Basics

For more than 19 years, ice climbers of all levels of expertise from all over the world have come together at the Bozeman Ice Festival to climb, eat and check out gear. The festival typically happens the first or second week of December, and features a myriad of climbing-related events and parties, including the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup. Hyperlite Mountain Gear makes a point of showing up to support our athlete ambassadors who converge to compete and instruct the on-site workshops (see below in the “Clinics” section for details).

“Bozeman Ice Fest is one of my absolute favorite events,” says Hyperlite Mountain Gear CEO Mike St. Pierre. “The ice climbing in Hyalite Canyon and surrounding areas is excellent. And the event itself offers both newcomers to the sport and more advanced climbers some great opportunity to learn from the best ice climbers in the world and to see the most cutting-edge gear made in the industry.”

If you are at the festival, feel free to swing by our booth to visit with Mike or our ambassadors and check out our new gear or demo an 2400 Ice Pack. To learn more about the festival check out the Bozeman Ice Fest website.

Clinics:

Clinics run in both Hyalite Canyon and at Urban Base Camp. Our Athlete Ambassadors Matt Ritter and Kurt Ross typically teach Hyperlite Mountain Gear clinics. Other ambassadors in attendance include Angela VanWiemeersch and Ryan Vachon. The pricing is 125$ per clinic, but that includes both gear demos, professional instruction as well as some free gear.

Urban Base Camp:

At the Urban Base Camp in the heart of downtown Bozeman, you can check out the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup. A day later, try your hand at the same course the pros were just on. You can also attend ice climbing courses, enjoy food and beer or take part in some family activities.

Evening Events at the Emerson:

Stop by the Emerson Ballroom to demo one of our Ice Packs, grab dinner made by The Emerson Grill and have a beer from local breweries. Later in the week there will be slide shows, parties, the Mugs Stump Award ceremony and more. Then the following night, check out the opening ceremonies for the UIAA Ice Climbing Cup, special guest Jeff Lowe and more.
